First of all, we emphasize that looking after fertility doesn’t
mean to harm nor delay cancer treatment, but enable patients to look
forward to having their fertility restored once they are free of cancer,
with the best quality of life possible.
Fertility preservation should preferably be carried out before cancer
treatment begins. However, treatment should be individualized, taking
the following into account: age, cancer type and type of treatment.
Patients who have already undergone cancer treatments or are currently
under treatment and wish to have children, should be evaluated by an
oncofertility specialist who will provide proper guidance.
The prescribed type of treatment (radiation, surgery and / or chemotherapy),
dose and number of cycles as well as the amount of radiation to be applied
will influence our fertility strategy.
In these cases, the recommended treatments are:
- Sperm Freezing;
- Oocytes Freezing;
- Embryos Freezing;
- Ovarian Tissue Freezing;
- Testicular Tissue Freezing.
